Virginia Tech has suspended Forward C.J. Barksdale the first three games of the season for a violation of team rules.
Coach James Johnson said Monday that Barksdale “made a bad decision” but still fits prominently into the Hokies’ plans. Johnson did not release any details about Barksdale’s actions.
The 6-foot-8, 235-pound Barksdale averaged 5.6 points and 4.7 rebounds last season. He started 30 games and his production improved significantly after Johnson benched him for a game at Maryland because he wasn’t happy with his effort.
Barksdale will miss games against USC Upstate, West Virginia and Western Carolina.
