4-star WR Noah Rogers: NC State, UNC visits on the horizon

Over the last few years, Noah Rogers has emerged as one of the top talents in the 2023 recruiting class. A standout 6-foot-3 wide receiver from Rolesville (NC) High School, Rogers has been on the radar for both NC State and North Carolina for years now.

As the delayed prep/spring football season started in North Carolina, back in March 2021, Rogers received offers from UNC and NC State, along with Penn State and West Virginia.

Quickly, his recruitment accelerated; Oregon and Notre Dame made offers, among others. Ohio State also entered the mix — as the recruitment of Rogers spanned from regional to national.

Rogers now stands as a Top 50 prospect in the 2023 class, according to composite rankings from 247 Sports. He’s also the No. 1 recruit in the state of North Carolina.

The next few weeks and months will be big for Rogers; he took an official visit to Clemson last week. Next, Rogers has three more visits on the docket over the following two weeks: Ohio State (June 17) and NC State (June 22). After the visit to NC State, Rogers will take an official visit to UNC.

At the Overtime OT7 event out in Las Vegas, Rogers stated that those three programs — Ohio State, NC State and UNC — are his current leaders. Rogers told 247 Sports that he plans to make his commitment decision before the start of the 2023 seasons — possibly before the end of June or July.

Knocking off Ohio State will be a tall task for either UNC or NC State. North Carolina does, however, have his older brother, Cyrus Rogers, on its roster, too. Rogers, a 2021 recruit, is a redshirt freshman.

NC State, meanwhile, has a 2023 commitment from 3-star quarterback Lex Thomas, a close friend of Rogers who hails from nearby Wake Forest. Thomas is the younger brother of NC State standouts Thayer Thomas and Drake Thomas.

Outside of that trio, though, Alabama has also recently entered the mix for Rogers. Put it all together — national appeal, with the local NC State-UNC rivalry hanging over the top — and the recruitment of Rogers is one of the more intriguing offseason storylines.
