With its hands tied financially, keeping Gregory was the right move for Georgia Tech

Heading into the season, Brian Gregory appeared to be on the hottest seat of any coach in the ACC. The 48-year-old had failed to even sniff an NCAA tournament appearance in his first three seasons at Georgia Tech, and there wasn’t much reason to believe he’d do so in Year 4.

Sure enough, the Yellow Jackets ended up with a 12-19 record and finished 14th in the ACC standings. But Gregory wasn’t fired.

In hindsight, the coach may never have even been in real danger of losing his job at all.
