Tip times and television assignments for all Georgia Tech men’s basketball games have now been finalized, and the Yellow Jackets will appear on a national television broadcast at least 10 times in 2015-16. In all, 24 of Tech’s 31 games will be televised nationally or regionally.
Tech hosts Cornell at 8 p.m. on Nov. 13 at McCamish Pavilion for its season opener, which will follow the opener for the Yellow Jackets’ women’s team against Loyola (Chicago) at 5:30 p.m. The rest of the Yellow Jackets’ non-conference home games will tip at 7 p.m. with the exception of East Tennessee State on Sunday, Nov. 22 (2 p.m.), and VCU on Dec. 15 (9 p.m. on ESPN2).
Four of Tech’s non-conference games will appear on an ESPN network, including Tennessee (Nov. 16). Tech also will get national television exposure in both of its games in the NIT Season Tip-Off, held Nov. 26-27 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. The Yellow Jackets face NCAA third-round opponent Arkansas on Thanksgiving Day (ESPNU) and either pre-season top-10 Villanova or defending NIT champion Stanford on Nov. 27 (ESPNU or ESPN2).
Tech’s road game at Tulane on Dec. 5 (5 p.m. ET) has been picked up by the CBS Sports Network, while the Dec. 19 game at Georgia (12 noon) will air on the SEC Network. The remaining seven non-conference games will be streamed live on the ESPN3 platform.
In the ACC, games against 2015 NCAA Sweet 16 team Louisville (Jan. 23), Syracuse (Jan. 30), 2015 NCAA champion Duke (Feb. 2), 2015 NIT finalist Miami (Feb. 7) and defending ACC champion Notre Dame (Feb. 20) are also slated for telecast on one of the ESPN networks.
Seven other ACC games are slated for ACC Network coverage (WUPA, CW 69 in Atlanta), while the remaining six will air on the ACC’s Regional Sports Network, a network of regional cable outlets including Fox Sports South and Fox Sports Southeast in Georgia.
The Yellow Jackets return three starters, including senior forward Marcus Georges-Hunt, the sixth-leading returning scorer in the ACC and promising sophomore scoring guard Tadric Jackson, as well as one of the ACC’s top double-double practitioners in senior forward Charles Mitchell. All told, 10 letterwinners are back, including six of the team’s top nine scorers. The Jackets also welcome to their ranks the ACC’s top three-point shooter from last season, Adam Smith, a Virginia Tech transfer, and high-scoring forward Nick Jacobs, a transfer from Alabama who sat out the 2014-15 season.
