Georgia Tech junior Michael Summers entered the season as a third-year starter at wide receiver. However, that’s not how he’ll end the year for the Yellow Jackets.
Paul Johnson told reporters Monday that Summers is no longer with the team. According to the head coach, the Statesboro, Georgia, product “just said he didn’t want to play anymore.”
Summers played in seven games this season, missing contests against Duke and North Carolina, and caught 12 passes for 178 yards and two touchdowns. Against Virginia on Oct. 31, he logged four receptions for 58 yards.
Following Summers’ decision to leave the team, true freshman Brad Stewart will likely see more playing time. Stewart has five catches this fall for 81 yards.
