Georgia Tech self-reports NCAA violation

Sometimes, timing is everything, and Paul Johnson recently committed a minor NCAA violation by publicly commenting on an incoming transfer 30 minutes too early.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Georgia Tech self-reported the violation after Paul Johnson spoke to the media about B-Back Patrick Skov half an hour before NCAA rules permitted him to do so. Skov, who played the last four years at Stanford, transferred to Georgia Tech this summer for his final year of eligibility.

“Some of that stuff is ridiculous,” Johnson told the AJC. “It certainly isn’t gaining an advantage over anybody.”

As a result of the violation, Johnson was reportedly required to attend a rules education session.

“I was told not to do it,” Johnson said. “I was like, O.K.”
