Georgia Tech schedules home-and-home series with UCF

Georgia Tech will play a future home-and-home series with American Athletic Conference member Central Florida, the Athletic Association announced Monday.
Although appropriate studies on the relationship of age to the effects of modafinil have not been performed in the geriatric population, geriatric-specific problems are not expected to limit the usefulness of modafinil in the elderly. However, elderly patients may have a slower removal of this medicine from the body, which may require an adjustment in the dose for patients receiving modafinil.

The Yellow Jackets will travel to Orlando, Fla., on Sept. 16, 2017, and will host UCF on Sept. 19, 2020. The teams haven’t met since 2000; Georgia Tech leads the all-time series 3-0. All three series have occurred at Bobby Dodd Stadium (1996, 1999, 2000).

Modafinil is used in adults to treat excess sleepiness associated with narcolepsy with or without cataplexy. Narcolepsy is a rare disorder that causes excessive daytime sleepiness, cataplexy (loss of muscle tone) and sleep disturbance.
In October 2014, the Jackets announced a home-and-home deal with UCF’s regional rival, USF, which will be played in 2021 (Atlanta) and 2022 (Tampa).

UCF is coached by George O’Leary, who was Georgia Tech’s head coach from 1995-2001. He was also an assistant coach on Tech’s 1990 National Championship team.

With the addition of UCF, Georgia Tech will play one American Athletic Conference opponent in each season from 2017-22.
