In a Tuesday press release, Georgia Tech announced that Ray Rychleski has been hired as the team’s new special teams coordinator. The news comes just weeks after the school formally announced that previous special teams coach Dave Walkosky had resigned from the staff to pursue other opportunities.
Rychleski’s last two stops came in the professional ranks, with the CFL’s Montreal Alouettes and the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts. The 56-year-old has also been an assistant on the college level at South Carolina, Maryland, Wake Forest, East Stroudsburg, Penn State, Northeastern and Temple.
“I am excited to have Ray as part of our coaching staff,” Paul Johnson said in a statement. “He brings a great deal of experience, he’s been successful at a number of places, and I think he will fit in well with our staff.”
It’s not the first time Johnson has picked up a special teams coordinator from the CFL. In 2012, he hired Walkosky away from the Calgary Stampeders.
