Georgia Tech’s depth at middle linebacker took a hit during the offseason when Anthony Harrell transferred to Florida, and the Yellow Jackets are down another man after Saturday’s loss at Duke. Junior Beau Hankins took to Twitter on Monday to announce he has decided to leave the program.
“It is with a heavy heart to say that as of today September 28 2015 I am no longer a member of the Georgia Tech football team. I will earn my degree in Operations and Supply Chain Management in May and will continue to pursue my dreams else where. I wont go into details as to why, but this is a decision I made as a man,” Hankins wrote.
The Birmingham, Alabama, saw action in two games this season, logging three tackles. He did not play against the Blue Devils.
Moving forward, senior Tyler Marcordes will likely continue to serve as the team’s No. 1 middle linebacker when the defense is in a 4-3 set. Behind Marcordes, true freshman Brant Mitchell could settle in as the Yellow Jackets’ primary backup at the position.
