Demarco Cox going pro…in football?

Just over two weeks ago, Georgia Tech center Demarco Cox was competing in his final game as a college basketball player. Nine days later, he signed a free agent contract with the Indianapolis Colts.

Once considered a 4-star offensive tackle by Rivals.com, Cox chose a future in basketball over football when he committed to Ole Miss in 2009. The Yazoo City, Mississippi, native eventually transferred to Georgia Tech for his final year of eligibility, and with his college career now over, he’ll pursue a future as an NFL tackle.

Cox isn’t the only former ACC basketball player to take the football path. Jimmy Graham played four years of basketball at Miami before playing one year of football with the Hurricanes, eventually hearing his name called in the third round of the 2010 NFL draft.
