DURHAM, N.C. – All four Duke quarterbacks threw for at least 50 yards to highlight the team’s 75-snap scrimmage on Saturday afternoon at Brooks Field at Wallace Wade Stadium.
Starting quarterback Thomas Sirk completed eight-of-14 throws for 56 yards while backup Parker Boehme was seven-of-12 through the air for 54 yards. Freshman Daniel Jones was seven-of-14 for 63 yards with an interception while fellow rookie Quentin Harris hit on two-of-four tosses for 98 yards including a 68-yard scoring strike to Keyston Fuller.
The Blue Devil ground game featured Nicodem Pierre, who rushed nine times for 31 yards and one touchdown, and Shaquille Powell, who gained 22 yards on five carries. Wide receivers Max McCaffrey and Quay Chambers had a team-high three catches each for 43 and 18 yards, respectively. Fuller added a 36-yard reception along with his touchdown catch.
Duke’s defense forced one turnover on an interception by safety Brandon Feamster. Linebacker Tinashe Bere recorded one quarterback sack while safety Jeremy Cash and defensive tackle Edgar Cerenord both were credited with one tackle for loss.
Duke opens the 2015 campaign at Tulane on Thursday, September 3.
