Is Kevin Knox Duke’s next top recruit?

DURHAM, N.C. — His suitors consist of college basketball’s greatest programs.

Kevin Knox, though, has the background that fits one of those programs better than others. The 6-7 Tampa product, one of the top players in basketball’s 2017 recruiting class, just could be the next great Duke star one-and-done freshman next year.

Like Jabari Parker, Jahlil Okafor, Justise Winslow, Harry Giles and Jayson Tatum before him, Knox is receiving extensive international experience through USA Basketball — where Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski has been the men’s national team’s head coach since 2005. Parker was the MVP of the 2011 FIBA Americas U16 championships before his all-American season at Duke in 2013-14.

Winslow, Okafor and Tyus Jones bonded and helped recruit each other to Duke while playing in the 2012 FIBA U17 World Championships in Lithuania. Two years later, they arrived at Duke, where they led the Blue Devils to the 2015 NCAA Championship.
