Cutcliffe says ACC is biggest nemesis of SEC

Duke coach David Cutcliffe stopped by The David Glenn Show during this year’s ACC Football Kickoff, and during his visit he talked about where the ACC stands in the college football hierarchy. Cutcliffe, who received national coach of the year honors in 2013 after leading the Blue Devils to a Coastal Division title and their winningest season in school history, sees the conference as being right at the top with the SEC.

“We are going head-to-head with the SEC,” the seventh-year Blue Devil coach said. “We are, whether people realize it or not, their biggest nemesis.”

Cutcliffe also pointed toward the depth in the Coastal as an example of how the ACC is strong from top to bottom. A year ago, Duke was picked to finish last in the division, but this year the media voted the Devils as the second-best team in the preseason Coastal standings.

“We could be picked seventh again, and people couldn’t argue that.”

While on the show, Cutcliffe also talked about Anthony Boone’s maturation, the growth of the program and the excitement of the fan base. Click below to hear the full interview:
