UNC reaches out to blue-chip 2021 CG Hunter Sallis

It’s not always easy to build a strong recruiting class one year after signing a deep, talented class the year prior. (That is, unless there are several one-and-done prospects involved. In which case, this style is your program’s life force.) However, that’s exactly what North Carolina hopes to construct.

North Carolina’s 2020 class goes six deep now, after Kerwin Walton’s commitment. The 2020 bunch is led by three 5-star prospects, too: point guard Caleb Love, and centers Day’Ron Sharpe and Walker Kessler. There’s also plenty of wing depth in the class as well: combo guard RJ Davis, small forward Puff Johnson and Walton, a shooting guard.

UNC already has one 2021 commitment: in-state forward Dontrez Styles, 4-star prospect from Kinston. According to Jake Weingarten of Stockrisers.com, Roy Williams is expected to talk with another 2021 prospect today: Hunter Sallis.

A native of Nebraska, Sallis is a 6-foot-3 combo guard; 247 Sports ranks him as a top-30 prospect in his class. Sallis already has a plethora of notable offers: Gonzaga, Kansas, Louisville and UCLA, among others. Fred Hoiberg and the Cornhuskers are in the mix, too.
