UNC announces 8-year contract extension with Roy Williams

In the midst of his 16th season as the head coach in Chapel Hill, UNC basketball has announced an eight-year contract extension with Roy Williams. The extensions runs through the 2027-28 season.

Williams returned to his alma mater for the 2003-04 season. While at North Carolina, Williams has compiled a record of 432-128 (77.1 percent); he’s also led the program to 14 NCAA Tournaments. North Carolina has won three national championships (2005, 2009, 2017) under Williams — who was added to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame back in 2007.

“I’m grateful and humbled in the University’s continued faith in my leadership of the basketball program,” says Williams.

North Carolina also announced a 10-year extension with Nike, which was finalized over the summer.
