Nation’s No. 1 recruit Marvin Bagley plans to visit Duke in July

According to a report from 247Sports, the No. 1 recruit in the 2018 class will visit Duke at the end of July. Marvin Bagley, a 5-star power forward, will be in Durham July 21-23.

The Blue Devils obviously aren’t alone in courting Bagley; Arizona, Kansas, Kentucky, UCLA and USC are in the mix, too. That’s Bagley’s reported top six. He plans to make a college decision before his senior year.

Bagley recently moved to California, which bodes well geographically for Pac-12 programs, like UCLA and USC.

Durham won’t be foreign territory for Bagley when he visits, either. His father is from the area, and played college football at North Carolina A&T. Bagley also has relatives that are denizens of nearby Fuquay-Varina.

The 5-star forward’s skill set was on display at the Nike EYBL circuit. Bagley ranked second in scoring — 25.8 points — and shot 54.6 percent from the floor.

Duke does not yet have any 2018 commitments; however, that will change in the near future. The Blue Devils have put together four straight top three recruiting classes. The includes the No. 1 overall class in both 2014 and 2016, according to 247Sports.

Coach K and Duke are also strong contenders to land the dunk machine that is Zion Williamson — the nation’s No. 2 prospect.
