Led by 4-star Khafre Brown, UNC Football lands 5 new commitments

It’s been a rather busy weekend for Mack Brown and UNC Football. On Saturday (Dec. 8), the program landed five new commitments, including the re-commitment of 3-star wide receiver Emery Simmons. Along with Simmons, who was committed to Penn State, here’s a look at the five prospects.

  • 4-star WR Khafre Brown, West Mecklenburg (Charlottes, N.C.). Brown’s brother, Dyami, is a member of the UNC Football program; he took an official visit to Chapel Hill in October.
  • 3-star WR Emery Simmons, South View (Hope Mills, N.C.)
  • 3-star DE Kristian Varner, Hiram (Ga.). Varner took his official visit to North Carolina this weekend.
  • 3-star OT Wyatt Tunall, Chester (Chester, S.C.). Tunall committed to Appalachian State over the summer, but after the departure of Scott Satterfield to Louisville, he pivoted. The Tar Heels flipped Tunall to a UNC commitment.
  • Ben Kiernan, Wakefield (Raleigh, N.C.). Brown and UNC landed the 6-foot punter over an offer from Scott Frost and Nebraska.
