Javonte Williams is the latest North Carolina football player to opt out of the Orange Bowl matchup with Texas A&M. Williams will start to prepare for the 2021 NFL Draft.
Earlier this week, fellow running back Michael Carter, wide receiver Dyami Brown and linebacker Chazz Surratt opted out, too. Brown will forgo his senior season.
Williams teamed up this season with Carter to form one of the best backfields in ACC history; the two combined for 2,385 rushing yards and 28 rushing touchdowns. During the 2020 season, Williams ran for 1,140 rushing yards (No. 3 ACC) and 19 touchdowns (No. 1 ACC). A physical inside runner, Williams averaged just under 7.3 yards per carry.

While at UNC, Williams ran for 2,297 yards and 29 touchdowns.
North Carolina plays Texas A&M in the Orange Bowl on Jan. 2.
