Internal competition serves as hurdle for Cam Akers

The hype surrounding Florida State freshman running back Cam Akers comes as no surprise, but the resistance he faces in 2017 won’t come only from a very good set of defenses.

Akers was the top-rated recruit for a 2017 FSU class that again ranked in the top 10 nationally. The top player from the state of Mississippi, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Akers made waves when he picked the Seminoles over in-state Ole Miss.
