Speaking to the media for the first time since last Saturday, UNC basketball coach Roy Williams noted that his team will be a full strength for this weekend’s matchup with Virginia.
In the hours following UNC’s win over Duke, Day’Ron Sharpe and Armando Bacot were captured on video partying without masks. That video surfaced Monday morning; a few hours later, Miami and UNC mutually agreed to not play that evening in Chapel Hill. Reports suggested that Miami was uncomfortable playing against North Carolina following the video’s release.
On Tuesday, UNC basketball released two statements — one from the team and one from Williams. These issued apologies tried to explain what happened Saturday night; Williams stated that those who broke COVID-19 protocols are “paying a very significant price.”
To that end, Williams reaffirmed on Friday that the players will be disciplined internally.
