Turnovers, running game struggles limiting Duke’s offense

Three games into the season, Duke’s offense simply doesn’t resemble a group that can achieve six wins and return the Blue Devils to bowl eligibility.

Even after romping to a 49-6 win over N.C. Central by scoring seven first-half touchdowns, Duke is averaging just 25.3 points per game. That’s 95th among FBS teams nationwide and six points below Duke’s average from last season.

Over the past four seasons, which all saw Duke play in bowl games, the Blue Devils have never averaged fewer than 31 points per game.
