With a bigger workload in 2021, Jalen Mitchell built off a strong close to his rookie campaign (2020). Mitchell carried 155 times for 722 yards (4.7 yards per carry), which ranked No. 13 in the ACC.

Louisville’s run game has the chance to be rather explosive this season; with quarterback Malik Cunningham as the point person, Mitchell will team up with transfer Tiyon Evans, who was the No. 1 JUCO prospect in the 2021 class. Evans led Tennessee in rushing this season — before suffering an injury. During his one year in Knoxville, Evans ran for 521 yards (6.4 per carry) and six touchdowns. Evans caught one touchdown pass, too.
