Fuente’s bye week track record bodes well for the Hokies

Virginia Tech has gotten off to a promising start in Year 1 under Justin Fuente, taking a 3-1 record into Saturday’s road game at North Carolina. If the Hokies are able to come away from Kenan Stadium victorious, they’ll be in excellent position to make a run at the program’s first ACC Coastal Division title since 2011.

It can only be seen as an advantage for Virginia Tech that it has gotten two full weeks to prepare for North Carolina. To its credit, UNC went down to Tallahassee and outlasted Florida State at Doak Campbell Stadium. But the time the Tar Heels had to spend preparing for FSU was all time that Virginia Tech was preparing for them.

Fuente has a solid track record following bye weeks. How did his Memphis teams fare in those scenarios? To find out for free, sign up for basic access to ACCSports.com.
