FSU football: News and notes from fall camp, rookies making an impact

For Florida State early on in fall camp, the veterans have been given the first shot. The place where that seems to be making the most noise is along the offensive line.

Heading into fall camp, the favorite to start at left tackle appeared to be redshirt freshman Josh Ball. The 6-foot-8 Ball put on 38 pounds in the offseason to move up to 325 pounds, and impressed during the spring game.

Getting the first crack, however, will Rick Leonard. Leonard was expected to be in a battle at right tackle with Brock Ruble, but head coach Jimbo Fisher plans to give both a chance at starting. Ruble is currently manning the right tackle spot.
