Former Yellow Jacket linebacker takes over as Georgia Tech AD

Georgia Tech introduced Oregon State athletic director Todd Stansbury as its new AD on Thursday morning. The school announced the hire in a 10 a.m. press conference.

Stansbury, who played linebacker at Georgia Tech in the early ‘80s and served as assistant AD at the school from 1988-95, first became an athletic director at UCF in 2012. He remained in that position until being hired by Oregon State in 2015.

During Stansbury’s short time in Corvallis, the Beavers finished the 2015 football season with a 2-10 record, and the men’s basketball team went 19-13, losing in the first round of the NCAA tournament. While he was at UCF, the Knights accumulated a 31-9 record on the gridiron, reaching three bowl games in three years.

Stansbury arrives at Georgia Tech a month and a half after the school’s last athletic director, Mike Bobinski, departed for the same position at Purdue.
