DURHAM — Duke landed its first class of 2017 recruit Friday when Alex O’Connell committed to sign with the Blue Devils. O’Connell made the announcement via Twitter.

A 6-6, 175-pound shooting guard from Milton High School in Roswell, Ga., O’Connell received an offer from Duke on Wednesday and quickly made his decision. It makes sense since his father, Dave, played at Duke from 1973-76 for coach Bill Foster.
