Coach K’s summer absence won’t hinder Duke recruiting

Two of best things Duke has going for it on the basketball recruiting trail will be off that road for a significant part of this summer.

Don’t expect the Blue Devils’ recent success to slow down, though.

Head coach Mike Krzyzewski and associate head coach Jeff Capel will be leaving campus in early July to join the U.S. Olympic team’s quest to win a third consecutive gold medal. Krzyzewski, Team USA’s coach since 2005, will be completing his time as head coach while Capel will be assisting him while the team is chosen, completes an exhibition tour around five U.S. cities and competes in the Rio Olympics in August.

While Krzyzewski and Capel will be in high-profile positions that draw the attention of recruits, they won’t be on the road recruiting as normal.
