5-star corner picks ACC school

Over the last couple of years, Stanford Samuels has established himself as one of the most highly regarded prospects in the 2017 recruiting class. On Thursday, the cornerback from Hollywood, Fla., announced where he would be playing in college.

Samuels took to social media to reveal his commitment to Florida State:

Rated a 5-star recruit and the No. 23 overall rising senior in the country, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings, Samuels is the highest-ranked player to pledge to the Seminoles this cycle. He is one of 10 recruits committed to an FSU class that is ranked No. 6 nationally.

Should Samuels sign with Jimbo Fisher’s program in February, it would mark the third straight year the Seminoles welcome at least one defensive back ranked as a top-25 player in the country regardless of position (per the 247Sports composite index). This past February, Florida State inked cornerback Levonta Taylor, who was ranked No. 7 in the national player rankings. In the 2015 class, FSU landed safety Derwin James (No. 5) and cornerback Tarvarus McFadden (No. 15).
