Francesco Badocchi will take an indefinite leave of absence from the UVA basketball program

According to a release from the University of Virginia, redshirt freshman forward Francesco Badocchi will take an indefinite absence from the basketball program. The move is due to medical reasons, according to the school. Badocchi will remain academically enrolled at the school while away from the team, though.

The 6-foot-7 Badocchi sat out and redshirted during the 2017-18 season, when UVA won the ACC. He was expected to be a part of Virginia’s rotation, coming off the bench this season.

This certainly makes last week’s news involving the immediate eligibility of Braxton Key even more important for the Cavaliers.
