According to Roy Williams, UNC basketball will be without freshman point guard Coby White for Wednesday’s matchup with UNC Wilmington. It’s a precautionary move for UNC; during his weekly radio show on Monday night, Williams mentioned an ankle issue for White as the impetus for the move.
Coby White has been ruled out for Wednesday’s game per Roy Williams. Precautionary move as White has been dealing with an ankle injury.

Early in his career, White has quickly become a difference-maker for North Carolina. In a little over 23 minutes per game, the freshman guard has averaged 15.3 points (55.8 eFG%) and 3.6 assists (24.5 percent assist rate). He’s also shooting 41.9 percent on three-pointers (9.3 3PA per 40 minutes). With White pushing the pace, UNC ranks second nationally in average offensive possession length: 13.3 seconds.
Coby White's eFG% by Shot Distance:
Close: 48.0% (12-25)
5-10': 0.0% (0-2)
10-20': 56.3% (9-16)
Threes: 62.8% (18-43)— Adrian Atkinson (@FreeportKid) December 3, 2018
With White out for the matchup against the Seahawks, junior point guard Seventh Woods will likely make his first career start. Woods (40.6 eFG%) isn’t the shooter/scorer that White is, but he’s had a solid season from a playmaking standpoint — 29 assists in 90 minutes of action.
Seventh Woods has played in 66 games in his career and he’s yet to start one
That likely changes with Coby White out against UNC Wilmington
