North Carolina football looked only a few miles east to land its newest commitment: 4-star edge rusher Beau Atkinson.
The 6-foot-6, 240-pound Atkinson plays for Raleigh (NC) Leesville Road; 247 Sports ranks Atkinson as a 4-star prospect and the No. 11 player in the state of North Carolina for 2022.
With a regional advantage, North Carolina knocked out Michigan and Miami to add Atkinson.

Obviously, North Carolina’s recruiting has spiked with the return of Mack Brown. A good portion of that focus has come along the defensive line; the Tar Heels continue to search for front 7 talent on the recruiting trail.
During the 2021 spring season, Atkinson collected 34 tackles and five sacks in a seven games. Atkinson also played some tight end.
North Carolina’s 2022 class is now up to five commitments, all of which rank inside the top 650 nationally. All five hail from either North Carolina or Virginia.
