Former University of Portland head coach Eric Reveno will join Josh Pastner’s staff at Georgia Tech as an assistant, the school announced. In addition, Scout.com reported Thursday that Pastner will complete his staff by hiring Georgetown assistant Tavaras Hardy.
Reveno served as Portland’s head coach for 10 years before he was fired at the end of the 2015-16 season. During his time with the Pilots, his teams accumulated a 140-178 overall record and appeared in the CIT four times.
Before coaching Portland, Reveno was an assistant at Stanford — his alma mater.
“Eric is known as one of the great developers of big men in the country and a great addition to our staff,” Pastner said. “He worked at Pete Newell’s Big Man Camp for seven years, and he was on the staff at Stanford during a time when they recruited and developed a number of tremendous big men and were highly successful.
“He’s got a tremendous IQ for the game of basketball and a high level of character.”
Hardy, who has been on Georgetown’s staff since 2013, has built a reputation throughout his coaching career. Before his stint with the Hoyas, he was a member of Northwestern’s staff for seven years.
