After official visit, UNC makes final 2 for 5-star PG Caleb Love

There’s more good news on the recruiting front for North Carolina, according to Evan Daniels of 247 Sports. One of the top point guards in the 2020 class — 5-star Caleb Love — has narrowed his list of schools down to just two: UNC and Missouri.

Love was set to take an official visit to Louisville this weekend; that, however, is no longer the case. The same can be said for Kansas, too, which is dealing with even larger NCAA problems. Last weekend, Love was in Chapel Hill on an official visit — the same weekend as 5-star center Walker Kessler. To the surprise of some, Kessler committed to North Carolina on Sunday — over Duke.

Love, who plays his prep basketball for St. Louis (Mo.) Christian Brothers College, is rated by 247 Sports as the No. 4 point guard in the 2020 class. He visited nearby Missouri for an official visit back on Sept. 6.

North Carolina already has 2020 commitments from two 5-star centers: Kessler and Day’Ron Sharpe. The addition of Love would, hypothetically, give UNC three 5-star commits. Duke, of course, already has three 5-star commits: Jalen Johnson, Jeremy Roach and DJ Steward.

With Cole Anthony set for a monster one-and-done season in Chapel Hill, Love looks like the heir to North Carolina’s point guard throne. Currently, UNC is seen as the team to beat for Love.
