Florida State had a busy Friday, adding two commitments for 2017, but the Seminoles are a long way from finished on the recruiting trail.
FSU has a 2017 class that ranks No. 12 nationally and No. 2 in the ACC, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings. When all is said and done, however, head coach Jimbo Fisher hopes to have yet another top-five class. Here’s where the Seminoles stand position-by-position:
QUARTERBACK
With Malik Henry transferring, Florida State will need to bring in two quarterbacks this cycle. The Seminoles already have two committed in consensus 4-star Bailey Hockman of Georgia and in-state 3-star James Blackman.
There’s some clamor that Blackman is also high on Louisville and Florida but appears to be pretty firm to FSU for the moment. In the event of a decommitment, LSU pledge Myles Brennan is a name to watch.
Deondre Francois will undoubtedly be the starter next year, but with Sean Maguire set to graduate and Henry gone, the Seminoles have only one other scholarship quarterback — J.J. Consentino. Consentino, a current redshirt sophomore, has struggled mightily in limited action.
