North Carolina cornerback Brian Walker is no longer with the Tar Heels’ football program, Larry Fedora told reporters on Monday. The corner did not make the trip to Pittsburgh for UNC’s 26-19 win over the Panthers. According to Fedora, Walker left the team last Wednesday.
Walker saw action in each of UNC’s first seven games this season, tallying 12 tackles and breaking up five passes. He spent much of his time at nickelback this year.
As a sophomore in 2014, Walker was an All-ACC Honorable Mention selection after starting the team’s final 12 games and finishing with 38 tackles and three interceptions. He was suspended for the Tar Heels’ opener against Liberty last season for his involvement in an altercation that left a teammate concussed.
