North Carolina basketball coach Roy Williams stopped by The David Glenn Show on Thursday to share his thoughts on the Carolina Panthers’ run to the Super Bowl as well as his 18-2 Tar Heels. During the interview, Williams explained what his team needs to do to put itself in position to compete for a national title at the end of this season.
“We’ve got to shoot the ball better,” the head coach said. “I think we’re like 27 percent from three in ACC games, so we’ve got to do that. That one’s pretty easy to figure out.”
Williams stated that UNC could also improve on the other end of the floor.
“We need to do a better job of guarding the basketball one-on-one so it doesn’t break down our defense and everybody has to start helping,” he said. “It’s the most difficult thing in the game today, but if we can do that and shoot the ball in the basket a heckuva lot better, we can be a really good team.”
Other topics of conversation included Williams’ thoughts on Cam Newton’s celebrations, a story of the first time he met Peyton Manning and the coach’s advice to help Marcus Paige break out of his shooting slump. Click below to hear the full interview:
