During Wednesday’s press conference in which the University of North Carolina released the findings from Kenneth Wainstein’s investigation into the school’s past academic irregularities, UNC chancellor Carol Folt announced that nine employees would face disciplinary action for their roles in the scandal. Folt stated that at least four of those employees would be fired.
Because of personnel laws, the chancellor would not reveal the identity of the nine employees, but on Thursday the Daily Tar Heel published the names. They are:
Jaimie Lee – academic counselor in the Academic Support Program from Student-Athletes
Tim McMillan – a senior lecturer in the Department of African, African American and Diaspora Studies
Bobbi Owen – professor of dramatic art, former senior associate dean for undergraduate education in the College of Arts and Sciences
Jan Boxill – former women’s basketball academic counselor
Alphonse Mutima – lecturer in the Department of African, African American and Diaspora Studies
Corey Holliday – associate athletic director for football operations under former football coach Butch Davis
Travis Gore – former assistant of Deborah Crowder
Brent Blanton – former women’s soccer counselor
Beth Bridger – former associate director of the Academic Support Program for Student-Athletes (Bridger was let go by UNC-Wilmington on Wednesday)
