Coming off two consecutive double-digit losses, North Carolina’s last two games of September ended in disappointing fashion, and much of the blame was left for the offensive line and defense. One of those areas received some good news this week, however.
Offensive guard Landon Turner, who missed two games with a sprained MCL suffered against San Diego State on Sept. 6, has returned to practice for the Tar Heels and will play this Saturday against Virginia Tech. The junior is UNC’s most experienced offensive lineman and also its best.
In the two games in which Turner played, the Heels gave up only one sack and put up a total of 339 rushing yards. In the two contests the Harrisonburg, Virginia, native missed, UNC allowed four sacks and totaled only 229 yards on the ground.
