Marquise Williams is ahead of schedule in his rehab following hip surgery, Larry Fedora said during a Wednesday teleconference. The second-team All-ACC selection is expected to make a full recovery by the start of the season.
“They tell us he’s ahead of schedule,” Fedora said. “They told him that these next four weeks was a very crucial time because he feels like he’s 100 percent, and so this is when they see most of the recurring injuries.
“But we expect him being back here full speed in just a few weeks.”
While a quarterback competition highlighted UNC spring ball in 2014, Fedora stated that Williams is the team’s starter this year.
As a junior, Williams completed 63.1 percent of his passes for 3,068 yards and 21 touchdowns while tossing nine interceptions. He was also the Tar Heels’ leading rusher with 788 yards and 13 touchdowns on the ground.
