Former UNC multi-sport athlete Jesse Holley came on The David Glenn Show on Tuesday, and among topics discussed were Rashad McCants’ recent allegations that North Carolina’s basketball program was deeply involved in academic fraud. Holley and McCants were teammates on the Tar Heels’ 2005 national championship team. During the interview, Holley said that while he is angry, he still considers McCants as family.
“Rashad is still our brother,” Holley said. “Everybody’s family goes through some sorts of ups and downs. It’s what makes you family.”
The ex-Dallas Cowboy mentioned that McCants has been difficult to contact and that he’s not sure why the No. 14 overall pick in the 2005 NBA draft has taken on the role of whistleblower.
“Right now, we still love Rashad…If he needs help, whatever thing he’s trying to prove of this, we just pray that he finds his way to get some sort of sane mental state back.”
