Unlike most of Roy Williams’ prior teams in Chapel Hill, the 2017-18 Tar Heels are being defined more and more by their perimeter play than their post production. With the return of Cameron Johnson, who averaged better than 23 minutes in his first four games back coming off knee surgery, UNC’s top five players in terms of average minutes per game are all guards or wings. Luke Maye, who leads the Tar Heels in minutes, scoring, rebounding, and 3-point percentage, falls more into the wing category than big man category due to his ability to impact the game from the perimeter.
