Over five years have passed since the NCAA first began investigating North Carolina for improper benefits and later academic irregularities. Recently, Tar Heel football coach Larry Fedora said that the program has been a target of negative recruiting ever since he stepped on campus.
UNC athletic director Bubba Cunningham was asked about the topic during a Friday visit on The David Glenn Show, and while he says that other programs have used the NCAA probe against the Tar Heels on the recruiting trail, he still believes recruits view the school in a positive light.
“By and large, the recruits understand what a great place North Carolina is,” Cunningham said.
Cunningham praised the enthusiasm of UNC coaches in all sports as well as the students on campus.
