Brandon Robinson commitment holds high level of significance for UNC

For the second time in less than a month, North Carolina landed a consensus top-75 prospect on Monday when Douglasville, Georgia, wing guard Brandon Robinson committed to the Tar Heels. A 4-star prospect, Robinson joins Bartow, Florida, big man Tony Bradley as a member of the program’s two-man 2016 class.

Rated the No. 55 senior prospect in the nation by Scout.com, Robinson had been in contact with UNC for a while, and Roy Williams’ ramped up his pursuit of the 2016 wing this summer, eventually extending a scholarship offer in early August. Robinson’s commitment comes just over a week after he took an official visit to Chapel Hill.

The 6-5 standout’s decision to pledge to the Heels is important for a few reasons. For one, it addresses a key area of need for the team’s 2016 class, as Williams will be looking to add multiple players on the wing this cycle. It’s also another quality pickup for UNC at a time when the program needs to add top talent.
