For the second time in less than a month, North Carolina landed a consensus top-75 prospect on Monday when Douglasville, Georgia, wing guard Brandon Robinson committed to the Tar Heels. A 4-star prospect, Robinson joins Bartow, Florida, big man Tony Bradley as a member of the program’s two-man 2016 class.
Rated the No. 55 senior prospect in the nation by Scout.com, Robinson had been in contact with UNC for a while, and Roy Williams’ ramped up his pursuit of the 2016 wing this summer, eventually extending a scholarship offer in early August. Robinson’s commitment comes just over a week after he took an official visit to Chapel Hill.
The 6-5 standout’s decision to pledge to the Heels is important for a few reasons. For one, it addresses a key area of need for the team’s 2016 class, as Williams will be looking to add multiple players on the wing this cycle.
