Head Coach: Bobby Petrino

Total number of commitments: 27

Bobby Petrino is going right down to the wire with a large number of prospects. It appears that decisions on National Signing Day will determine just how successful Louisville’s class of 2016 will be. As many as seven players, including recruits at just about every position on the field, are strongly considering Louisville and planning to announce on signing day. Beating out Nebraska to land 4-star wide receiver Dez Fitzpatrick early in the week could help to set a positive tone for Louisville’s chances down the stretch.

Louisville had a strong performance in Georgia and Alabama this recruiting cycle, as well as right at home. The Cardinals’ class of 2016 has two players from Kentucky, the first home-state players Louisville will sign since Reggie Bonnafon two years ago.

Bobby Petrino has seen plenty of attrition in this class. Four verbals ended up flipping elsewhere. QB Tylin Oden left for Rutgers. The Cards lost two cornerbacks: CB Rodjay Burns flipped to Ohio State in late January, and Baylen Buchanan went to Tennessee. LB T.J. Brunson, who went to South Carolina, rounds out the decommits. The Cards may also lose 4-star safety Jaquelle Green to junior college, as his coach has told recruiting services that Green won’t qualify.

In addition to Fitzpatrick, Louisville has commitments from 4-stars QB Jawon Pass, DB Jaquelle Green and WR Chris Taylor-Yamanoha.
