Louisville picked up another piece to add to its 2016 recruiting class on Tuesday when Montgomery, Alabama, linebacker P.J. Blue committed to the Cardinals. The 6-2, 210-pound prospect announced the news via social media.
“I’m excited to announce that I am officially committed to Louisville!!!” Blue wrote on his personal Twitter account.
Blue is considered a 4-star recruit and the No. 7 senior in the state of Alabama on the 247Sports Composite. He is the third player at his position to commit to Bobby Petrino’s program this recruiting cycle.
With National Signing Day just two months away, the bulk of the Cardinals’ 2016 group is complete. The class as a whole currently has 22 members and is rated No. 30 nationally based on 247Sports Composite rankings.
Blue isn’t the only highly touted player in his class who has committed to Louisville. Defensive back Jaquelle Green of D’Iberville, Mississippi, receiver Seth Dawkins of Columbus, Ohio, and wideout Chris Taylor-Yamanoha of Rohnert Park, California, are also notable prospects who have chosen the Cardinals. The most coveted commitment of them all, however, is Columbus, Georgia, quarterback Jawon Pass.
It is the second year in a row that Petrino and his staff have assembled a top-35 class. Last year’s group ranked No. 32 in the nation.
