Notre Dame’s basketball coaches have taken advantage of their time in Washington, D.C., not only to pad their NCAA Tournament resume, but also to do some recruiting.
The Fighting Irish have been in the mix for Hyattsville, Maryland, star forward D.J. Harvey for several months. And as they awaited their ACC Tournament quarterfinal victory over Duke, Notre Dame coach Rod Balanis went over to DeMatha High School to observe a Stags practice session.
Brey has lots of history at DeMatha, as he served as an assistant coach to the legendary Morgan Wootten prior to becoming an assistant coach at Duke and then getting the head-coaching job in South Bend.
The Irish are hoping to have a shot at the 5-star Harvey, but in recent weeks, Notre Dame has also had its eye on another player from the D.C. area.
