According to a report from Evan Daniels of 247 Sports, high-level interest has picked up for JUCO standout El Ellis.
A product of Durham, N.C., Ellis put together a strong freshman campaign (33 games) at Tallahassee Community College: 14.3 points (40.3 3P%), 4.5 assists and 3.9 rebounds per game. The 6-foot-3 Ellis played prep basketball at the Quality Education Academy in Winston-Salem.
While scoring over 2,300 career points as a prep player, Ellis was recruited by North Carolina Central, Eastern Kentucky, Charleston Southern and Santa Clara — among others. (NC Central is again recruiting Ellis, per Daniels.) Ellis, however, picked Tallahassee C.C. over several other two-year programs: Cape Fear Community College, Eastern Florida State College and Moberly Area College.
As the 2019-20 season went along, plenty of power programs took notice; he recently received scholarship offers from UConn and Arizona. Closer to home, Louisville and NC State extended scholarship, too. Ellis told Pack Pride that the NC State offer “means so much to me.”
Ellis also informed Pack Pride that NC State and Louisville would like to have him on campus — when possible — for visits.
Josh Hall, a 4-star signee in NC State’s 2020 recruiting class, took notice. Hall is from the Bull City, too.

Teams will need to be patient with Ellis, though; he’s a 2021 college recruit. Ellis has one more season on the docket in Tallahassee. After that, he will have two more years of eligibility.
