NC State’s stacked 2019 recruiting class grew once more. On Thursday (Aug. 2) night, 3-star defensive end Terrell Dawkins committed to the Wolfpack. Dawkins, a standout at Concord (N.C.) Cox Mill, is 6-foot-4 and 235 pounds. 247 Sports ranks the 3-star prospect as the No. 25 player in the state of North Carolina.
This commitment is very much on brand for NC State. Dave Doeren has targeted the top in-state prospects, especially those along the defensive line. State already has commitments from multiple top-20 in-state defensive prospects: Savion Jackson, Joshua Harris and CJ Clark.
As it sits right now: NC State’s 2019 class, which ranks top 20 in the nation and fourth in the ACC, has 21 commitments. Of that group, amazingly, 17 hail from the state of North Carolina.
Before picking NCSU, Dawkins received a bevy of offers, including ones from football powerhouses Ohio State, Florida and Notre Dame. Tennessee was in the mix, too.
