UNC showing strong interest in 2018 big man

David McCormack is one of the nation’s top big men from the class of 2018. One recent performance by the 6-10, 290-pound center drew plenty of loud roars from the Norfolk, Va., crowd.

Rated a consensus 4-star prospect, the Oak Hill Academy post man scored 12 points on six monster dunks to help the powerhouse program to an 81-49 win over Lake Taylor. He was 6-of-7 from the field with five rebounds in just 20 minutes of action.

McCormack says that he’s still open to all schools — over 20 are seriously involved — though a few are sticking out. His most recent visit was to Maryland. North Carolina is keeping close tabs on him, too.

“I’ve talked to Carolina and Coach (C.B.) McGrath very often,” McCormack commented following the game. “I like the way they develop their bigs with Isaiah (Hicks) and Kennedy (Meeks), so they’re definitely a great program.”

McCormack hasn’t made any definite plans for schools he will be visiting moving forward. However, he is hoping to see Kansas, Kentucky and Texas before arriving on a college choice.
